This stunning, high quality development in the centre of Ludlow provides new and refurbished single person accommodation units, together with improved management accommodation for Connexus Housing and Social Care, using part of the historic mill building. The development also provides office accommodation to let for local businesses and a new start up café/bistro is providing employment opportunities. Accommodation is a first step in housing for vulnerable young adults to live in a semi-autonomous supported environment.
An existing building was demolished to provide space for a new 3 storey extension to the historic Mill. Constructed using a timber frame system and clad in pre-oxidized copper has produced a stunning building reflecting the historic origins of the site. The remaining Mill has been totally refurbished providing improved accommodation for young people with separate areas for site management and commercial premises.
Our Project and Cost Management team have worked closely with the Client and Architect to develop a design within the budget restrictions. The Client wanted to deliver a special building but within strict budgetary constraints. Fellows costed numerous designs focusing particularly on frame and façade and undertook discussions with cladding suppliers, amongst others, to ensure that the Client’s scheme was within budget before a planning application was submitted. During post-development and delivery phases, Fellows worked with the Contractor and project team to work though the schemes changes. Fellows have a policy to integrate with all aspects of a project so that we can take any opportunity to add value in terms of programme scheduling, cost management and quality.
