John Egerton tells you what it is like to work at Fellows…
Becoming a Fellow has been a great move, and the culture of the business is new and refreshing…!
Having spent nearly 18 years in the industry and much of that time with a major corporate business, it has been really refreshing to join a business and a team who are genuinely focused on supporting each other with their development and projects, with a personal touch and in a relaxed working environment (…. we even have the radio on!). Having spent much of the latter stages of my career leading major programs and projects I was delighted to see that Fellows, whilst perhaps smaller than some of its peers and the competitors in the industry, are going above and beyond in terms of the size, scale, and complexity of the schemes they are delivering. From what I have experienced so far there is no doubt in my mind that this is the result of both a highly talented, hardworking, ambitious team and a genuine commitment from the business to its long-term client relationships.
In particular, 100 West Cromwell Road, a £273m major high-rise residential development on site in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The scheme will see the construction of 462 new dwellings, a public Leisure Centre, and Commercial/Retail space. Fellows were appointed following the purchase of the scheme at RIBA Stage 3, and have proceeded to provide full Project Management, Employer’s Agent, and Cost Management services to date and the team is doing a fantastic job leading this complex development.
Whilst Fellows has its own unique identity and personal touch, being part of a larger organisation, RSK Group, really has its benefits and those were clear to me from the outset of joining the business. The business management systems and support infrastructure that has been put in place by our parent company meant that my onboarding was seamless from the start and continues to be. It means that we have access to and collaborate with several other businesses, both in the construction industry and others outside the construction industry. The opportunities created by being part of major national public sector frameworks means that business growth can be achieved in a focused and stable way, and I look forward to being part of that journey!
I am genuinely looking forward to my future here at Fellows. In particular, I am looking forward to helping the business grow in terms of its size, scale, and client base. Helping to get the very best from our teams through mentoring, professional development, and leadership and by attracting the very best talent the industry has to offer!
But above all, I am looking forward to building long-lasting friendships with clients and colleagues!
