Fellows Construction Consultants are very pleased to announce that despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, fit out works have commenced at two new Lok’nStore locations in Leicester and Oldbury.
Fellows are acting as Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyor on both of these schemes having previously delivered the Shell & Core element at Leicester, whilst Oldbury is the reconfiguration of a previously constructed unit in addition to the fit out works.
Both schemes commenced the fit out stage just as the Covid-19 situation took hold which restricted the working practices of the industry nationwide due to interrupted material and labour supplies.
Fellows have worked alongside the Client and Camistar the appointed contractor to understand potential impacts on the programme and to determine innovative methods by which to mitigate these in line with the overall delivery programme.
Working with the contractor, new methods of working have been adopted that allow the scheme to progress whilst adhering to Government advice on Social Distancing. Key issues include the resequencing of the works, adjusting the supply chain and sourcing alternative products and suppliers wherever practicable both projects are set to be handed over on their planned completion dates in June and July to allow trading to commence.
