The newly refurbished University College Birmingham (UCB) Link Building located at Summer Row, Birmingham was successfully completed in December 2019.
The project required the refurbishment of an 8 storey commercial building, formerly a Job Centre, into a mix of student services and administrative facilities across all floors. This included linking the buildings access, security, building management and control systems to the UCB network, which connects all their buildings together.
Fellows were appointed as Employer’s Agent on behalf of University College Birmingham and have been successfully working with UCB on this and other planned development projects since November 2017.
Fellows worked in close partnership with UCB to deliver this scheme. Due to the administration of the previous Principal Contractor, the final phase of completion works had to be innovatively procured and delivered in a challenging 10-week programme. In order to achieve a smooth handover and start of operation of the building, high level involvement was required in the planning of the works and continual consultations with UCB and their end users.
